This summer engagement in Columbus was tricky. It was hot out and we had storms rolling in. As we drove to Schiller Park in German Village we were racing the rain there. Thankfully when we arrived the sun had popped out but we knew we only had a short amount of time to work with before the skies opened up again.
Liz and Ryan are getting married in March so they knew they wanted a Spring or Summer engagement. They wanted full trees and flowers in bloom for their engagement session. Since they knew their wedding portraits would be the complete opposite with it being at the end of Winter.
Since we knew we did not have a lot of time to work with we stuck to Schiller Park and the streets immediately surrounding the park. Surprisingly we even had enough time for a quick outfit change before the rain came. I give all the credit to them for working through my posing so quickly, they seemed like professionals.
I’ve said it before and if you look at my pasts posts you will see that my couples agree, if you are considering a summer engagement in Columbus, Schiller Park should be at the top of your list of places to consider. If you enjoy Liz and Ryan’s session or have been wanting a session of your own in Columbus please reach out through my contact page! I would love to create timeless images with you!
A Fall Engagement at Innis Woods
Wedding at Cedar Springs Pavilion
Thank you for reading!
I am always thrilled when my couples choose to have their engagement portraits at Innis Woods. There are so many locations throughout the park for beautiful portraits. Every time I go there I seem to find a new spot to photograph which I love because that means that everyone’s galleries do not look the exact same. Of course, there are those classic spots that we will always go to such as the ivy and wisteria-covered arch and gazebo located in the middle of the park.
If you are looking for locations for your engagement session within central Ohio, I highly recommend checking out Innis Woods. This park is beautiful all year round which is why it is so popular. Innis Woods also makes a great location for portraits on your wedding day. If your venue doesn’t have an outdoor space for portraits this park is a great option. The location in Westerville is convenient for any venue in the surrounding cities.
Claire and Ryan are one of my 2023 couples. I am so excited to photograph their wedding at Bent Tree Golf Club in May. I met up with them this past October for their engagement session. The weather was absolutely perfect for their session and the light was so glowy, I could not have asked for a better day. I hope you enjoy looking through their session and find inspiration for your next portrait session or wedding! If you love what you see don’t forget to head to my contact page to book with me!
Are you considering a German Village Engagement? This urban neighborhood seems to be a favorite amongst my couples and it is not hard to see why. No matter how many times I take portraits around the area I always discover new spots. The park is always beautifully landscaped and the surrounding homes are well-manicured too! There is something so charming about this neighborhood.
Katie really wanted a more botanical vibe, while Jeremy tends to like more industrial scenes. So they thought that Schiller Park would be a great compromise. With the tree-lined streets, iron fences, and brick streets, we were able to bring to life both of their desires during their session. We settled on a date in late May to be sure all the trees would be full and that some flowers would be blooming.
Katie and Jeremy’s engagement session was one of my favorites of the year. Take a moment to scroll through their gallery to see why!
Engagement Session at Franklin Park Conservatory
I love when couples choose to have their engagement session at the Franklin Park Conservatory. It is one of those locations that no matter how many times you go you always get something different. If you have never had the chance to go there I highly recommend taking an afternoon to explore.
Hadley and Joel’s session was the perfect day, while a little windy, the temperature was perfect for a Spring session. We also got very lucky with all the spring blooms we found, there were even some trees that were still blooming, which can be harder to find at the end of April. I was really excited to see this as it was something Hadley was hoping to have in her portraits. After we were done at Franklin Park we went over to Goodale Park.
If you are at all familiar with Columbus then you know Goodale Park is the go-to spot when you are looking to include those blooming cherry trees in your portraits. Thankfully, the trees did not disappoint here either.
I hope you enjoy some of my favorites from Hadley and Joel’s final gallery! Can’t wait for their wedding day in July!
A German Village Summer Engagement
I am excited to share this Fall Engagement at Inniswood Gardens. Carli and Kobe were such a joy to work with. We planned for their session in November and the day turned out to be rather nice. As you know the weather in Ohio, in November can be pretty finicky. This day turned out to be a brilliant autumn day, warm with only a few clouds in the sky. While a lot of the trees had lost their leaves from a storm that rolled through a few days prior. There were still plenty that had those vibrant fall colors you look for and expect when choosing to have your engagement session in the Fall.
Carli and Kobe plan to get married in July in their hometown of Springfield. They have been friends since they were in the 5th grade and started dating their Junior year of High School. Carli had described Kobe as outgoing with a great sense of humor. He had her laughing the whole session, which always makes my job so much easier. I love when couples feel comfortable enough with me to really let their personalities shine. This really allowed the love and joy they both have for each other to really come out in their images. I can not wait for their wedding day to come and to spend more time with them.
Inniswood Metro Garden is becoming a popular go-to location for my couples. There are sooo many options for locations here. I seem to find new possibilities every time I come here. It’s great because you get such a variety throughout your session without having to change locations. I am sure after you spend a few minutes scrolling through my favorites from their day you will see why so many couples choose this location to document such a special time in their love story.
Chilly Fall Portraits in German Village
I am excited to share the images from Erin and Ryan’s engagement session at the Scioto Mile. We took these at the end of last summer. The day was absolutely perfect, sunny but not too warm.
When we were planning their engagement session Erin told me that one of the things she and Ryan like to do most is walking the parks surrounding Columbus. So it was a given that we would have to do their session in one. We decided on the Scioto Mile so that we could still get the park feel but also have some of the Columbus skyline. I love being able to make these types of sessions meaningful to the couple. So incorporating their interests is a must.
These two will be eloping in Big Sur in June. I can not wait to see pictures from their wedding day. I hope it goes off without a hitch for them! I hope you enjoy so of my favorites from their engagement at the Scioto Mile.
